Child welfare investigators need to know every child’s story inside and out to ensure they are safer tomorrow than they were yesterday. But critical information about the child and that child’s family—previous allegations, placements, key issues, or medical history—is often hidden or virtually impossible to retrieve. Social workers need a complete picture of the past and present to ensure future safety. This is a story about two social workers who are using a protective services case discovery platform, Traverse, to surface “dark data” to see the whole picture when making safety decisions.
