Screening

Provide a Thorough Overview to Ensure Safety

Child Protective Services screeners are the frontline. Serious allegations come at them fast and furious regarding children in harm’s way. They are charged with creating the building blocks of each alleged child maltreatment story. But critical information—previous allegations, history, police reports, and medical information—is often hidden or virtually impossible to retrieve. Screeners need a complete picture of the past and present to quickly identify child safety concerns. This is a story about three screeners who are using a protective services case discovery platform, Traverse, to utilize “dark data” during screening to provide information to help investigation caseworkers, ongoing caseworkers, and supervisors make confident decisions about child safety.
