Northwoodians are committed to making a positive impact on communities where we live and work.
We give back through our employee-driven Northwoods Foundation, partnering with local non-profit organizations, and our own volunteering and philanthropy.
Giving Back
Inspired by our human services customers, Northwoods encourages a strong culture of helping others. Employees (AKA Northwoodians) can spend up to 20 hours of company time every year to volunteer in efforts together and for causes near and dear to their hearts.
Our Partners
We work with organizations that make a difference in the human services space.
Partner Spotlight
My Very Own Blanket is on a mission to help kids entering and moving through foster care feel comforted and loved. Northwoodians have supported this effort for several years through blanket making events in our office.
Northwoods Foundation
Another important way we give back is through the Northwoods Foundation. The employee-driven 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization provides direct financial assistance to people in need in the communities in which Northwoodians work and live.
Created in 2007, the Northwoods Foundation assists families going through a difficult time, including helping pay for unexpected medical expenses, damage from natural disasters, and devastating hardships. The Foundation also donates to numerous local organizations and Northwoods employees have volunteered countless hours over the years to causes supported by our partners.
Holiday Toy Drive
Each year through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, The Northwoods Foundation and Northwoods employees donate toys and other gifts to children in need.
Thanksgiving Meal Drives
Northwoods partners with local organizations to shop for groceries and deliver meals to families.
Sports Camp
Partnering with LiFEsports at The Ohio State University, the Northwoods Foundation helped fund a sports camp for Dublin, Ohio at-risk youth to prepare them for life and leadership through sports.
“Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for the kind and generous donations for the children and families of our Agency. As a result of your amazing donations, the holidays were made a little merrier and happier for so many deserving children and families!”
— IDA WILLIAMS, LSW, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio
“We had an opportunity to assist a family whose home was destroyed by a fire. As I discussed the family’s immediate needs with the mother, I was brought to tears knowing that they would have nowhere to turn if it wasn’t for the Northwoods Foundation. We were able to help this family and provide relief as they transitioned to a new home.”
— FORMER NORTHWOODS FOUNDATION BOARD CHAIRPERSON
“Jessica and I were finishing up some Christmas shopping and this guy pulled out a credit card and paid for our purchase. His name is Jeff and his company Northwoods lets them do these random acts of kindness. They just became our Christmas miracle.”
— COMMUNITY MEMBER BENEFITING FROM OUTREACH
“Thank you for joining us again in our mission to provide all of our families with a Thanksgiving meal! Our families truly appreciate your kindness!“
— AFTER-SCHOOL ALL-STARS
Supporting Our Communities
Support means more than money. We also support our communities through action and raising awareness. We don colors for causes important to human services and participate in local charity events. Many of our employees volunteer and hold board positions with local organizations. We also organize events and activities at our office to connect with community members.
Wear Blue for Child Abuse Prevention Awareness
Child welfare professionals work tirelessly to keep kids safe. Every April, we wear blue to show our support for this important work during Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Wear Green for Child Support Awareness
Families benefit greatly from Ohio’s child support program, which serves 675,000 kids. During August’s Child Support Awareness Month, Northwoods employees wear green to raise awareness.
“TechTok” Boot Camp
To empower the next generation, we host workshops in partnership with After School All-Stars to introduce kids to concepts like coding and artificial intelligence, while giving a preview of what it’s like to work in tech.
