Since 2012, children services agencies, partners, and businesses have shown support for child abuse prevention by participating in “Ohio Wears Blue,” a statewide awareness campaign that takes place on the second Wednesday of every April, Child Abuse Prevention Month. Ohioans are encouraged to wear blue that day—to work, to school, to a community event, or at home—to show support for preventing child abuse and neglect.
Check out the photos below from the all the years the Northwoods Team has worn blue since 2012!
How Can You Help Support Child Abuse Prevention Efforts?
Wear Blue is one small way to raise awareness and show support for child abuse prevention, but child welfare agencies and organizations across the country need help from everyone to help keep kids safe.
What should you do if you suspect child abuse and/or neglect? Here are some resources to help:
- Administration of Children and Families: What should I do if I suspect child abuse and/or neglect?
- Children’s Bureau: Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline
- Call your local child welfare agency using this list by state from the Countyinfo.
- The Care House
- Children Advocacy Centers
You can also visit the National Child Abuse Prevention Month (Administration for Children and Families), Wear Blue for Child Abuse (Public Children Services Association of Ohio), and 2025 Child Abuse Prevention Month (Prevent Child Abuse America) websites for additional resources and ways to get involved.
